MSICS TRAINING
Vision Outreach International offers a Manual Sutureless Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) course in several countries worldwide. These courses are primarily for board-certified ophthalmologists to begin learning or brushing up on their MSICS techniques. We recommend undergoing multiple LEVELS OF TRAINING before attempting to perform MSICS surgery independently.
Our PRIMARY desire is to train and encourage medical professionals to grow in Christ-Likeness, gain a heart for global missions, be EXCELLENT in their medical eye care, and mentor others in these areas.
Our MSICS training is one of the most requested programs that we offer. Our courses fill up quickly, so we maintain a waiting list. To secure your training reservation, complete an online MSICS TRAINING APPLICATION FIRST. If no training dates are available, we will place you on a waiting list and notify you once a course becomes available. After your application and dates are approved, we will direct you to donate for the training course. Please note that we require the application and training donation to be received beforehand to confirm your reservation. Thank you.
If you have specific questions or do not see an opportunity below, please email Denise at [email protected], give her your contact information, and ask her to put you on the waiting list. Once a course becomes available, she will notify you.

Help Me See
Simulation Training
Vision Outreach International has developed a relationship with Help Me See. They do excellent training in the lab in New Jersey. They use simulation training and a surgical ophthalmologist instructor to help you work through each aspect of the surgery in great detail. Live training coupled with simulation training is an excellent way to progress rapidly in your MSICS skill set. Let me know if you would like me to connect you with Help Me See to get more information about their program. | ||

What Others are Saying...
"Other than learning MSICS in a very modern surgical suite by an excellent instructor who thought of every detail before we arrived, the highlight was getting to fellowship with the Mejia family at the evening meals. They were so generous and so accommodating. A true blessing to us in a foreign land.”
Dr. Matt McCauley - TX
Dr. Diego is an amazing teacher and very patient. I learned how to do MSICS, but also think I learned about doing better surgery in general. Diego and Patricia took great care of us. They were very warm and caring.
Dr. Lauren Baker - MN
I encountered other people who love Jesus Christ with their whole life and devote themselves to people in need. The patients in Guatemela received a clear gospel message and excellent medical care. Their appreciation was evident and rewarding. To God be the glory!
Dr. Stephen Fox - IA
Just prior to departing for Santo Domingo, I emailed Dr. Gomez to let him know we would arrive on time but also to find out where I would meet him as I would not likely have WiFi. His response, "Dont worry, I will be outside, I have your photo, relax". This set the tone for surgery also as he would say "relax, you got this". He has a good method of teaching MSICS and is a patient instructor and great surgeon.
